More than 400 Rural Fire Service (RFS) volunteers will be involved in a significant hazard reduction burn in the Wongawallan area from Friday, 10 September to Monday, 13 September. 

The multi-agency burn is a key part of bushfire mitigation activities designed to protect lives and property.  

The burn will stretch from Wongawallan to Willow Vale and smoke may be visible across the northern part of the Gold Coast. 

Media are invited to attend, interview the spokespeople listed below and film vision of the burn. This is an excellent opportunity to learn more about the important work Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) and its partners are doing to prepare for bushfire season.

Where: Incident staging area, corner of Tamborine Oxenford Road and Maudsland Road, just before the John Muntz causeway, Wongawallan.
