The Emergency Alert for Townsville residents has been CANCELLED.  

An Emergency Alert message has been issued to Townsville residents from the Townsville Local Disaster Management Group.

The message advises that dam levels are expected to rise during the hours of 8.30pm Sunday and 6am Monday.

If maximum dam capacity is reached, dam gates will open and the following areas will experience imminent flash flooding as a result of significant, sudden rises in the Ross River: Rosslea, Hermit Park, Railway Estate, South Townsville, Oonoonba, Idalia, West End, Rowes Bay, Garbutt, Townsville City, Cluden, Hyde Park, Aitkenvale, Currajong, Pimlico, Mysterton, Mundingburra, Douglas, Annandale, Kirwan and Thuringowa Central.

Residents are advised to move away from the Ross River immediately and make their way to higher ground now. If at home, move to the highest point of your dwelling.
