Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) will be conducting a multi-agency hazard reduction burn this Saturday and Sunday, testing coordination and capability ahead of bushfire season.

Rural firefighters will work alongside the State Emergency Service (SES), the Queensland Police Service (QPS) and a handful of newly-qualified rural firefighters. Several students from the Ravenshoe High School will also be attending as part of their training to become volunteer firefighters.
Saturday will consist of six smaller hazard reduction burns, whereas Sunday will consist of a large and challenging 70-acre burn with about 100 firefighters present. 

The travelling public is warned that there may be smoke hazard conditions and traffic control on the Kennedy Highway between Millstream Parade and Battle Creek turn off.

Media are invited to attend to film footage and conduct interviews. All attending media personnel must be dressed in personal protective equipment (PPE). If you are unsure of what to wear please contact QFES Media on 3635 3310.
